It's 1:30am here at church and the rest of the team is going to be slowly arriving for our 3:15am departure for the San Francisco airport. In about 12 hours we'll go from hot and dry Silicon Valley to hot and wet Belize City.
I'm sure everyone has mixed feelings as they get ready to go. There's the eager anticipation of wondering what God has in store for us. But there's also that little tinge of fear that is pretty unavoidable when you venture into the unknown. We say goodbye to family (I'm missing my 11th wedding anniversary!), friends and the comforts of home. And we hope that we can handle whatever comes our way in the next ten days.
This is my third trip to Belize and it has been a privilege to see how the Lord has guided LGCC to a special ministry. We're doing our first construction project--building a basketball court at a youth detention facility. And we're following up on the Chinese families who were introduced to Christ last year. Most importantly, we're trusting that God will open our eyes to how He's working and then allow us to be a part of it, even if for a short time.
Keep checking in to see how our trip is going...
Pastor Brian
